What does the Revo software do? Revo Performance software offers the smoothest and most controllable power increase available for the modern motor vehicle. All of our development is carried out using the standard un-modified car, which has first been diagnostically tested for true factory results. As such the software we tune to, will perform impeccably when re-installed onto an un-modified car.
Most of our performance software is complimented by multiple performance programs, anti theft programs and user friendly variable table changes that become accessible when you purchase an optional Serial Port Switch. This will give you access to many different levels of enhancements built into the Revo performance software. You may want to switch to take advantage of better fuel qualities, or to ensure you are getting the most from any optional bolt on tuning accessories like performance exhaust systems, performance air intake filters or intercoolers. And for the ultimate enthusiast, it allows you to “tune” your vehicle’s fuel, boost and timing settings for maximum performance.
What if my car is already chipped? Different suppliers use different methods of "chipping". If it was a standard remap there will not be a problem, the software will simply overwrite the other code. If the software is on an encryption module the module will need to be replaced and a factory EPROM fitted. If you know that you have other software it is important to tell your Revo dealer before getting flashed.
How do I switch programs? Programs are switched by the use of the SPS device. Having pre-selected the required program, the device plugs into the OBDII port and gives an audible warning once the program change has taken place (typically around 3 seconds). The SPS is then removed while the new program stays resident in the ECU until switched again.
Can I upgrade to switching later? Yes. All of the code is programmed with all of options enabled and all that is needed is the SPS device to switch programs. You may purchase your SPS devices here: SPS1, SPS2, SPS3.
Can the dealer see that my car is modified? Since there is no removal of any hardware there is no physical indication that the car has been modified. Engine electronics behave exactly as original and can be re-flashed by the dealer. Under normal diagnostic procedures the dealer computers cannot detect the software. Since there are no permanent changes to the ECU the factory original code can simply be reloaded.
NOTE: Neither North American Motorsports nor Revo condones the use of this technology for purposes of deceiving dealerships or insurance companies. Insurance and dealers need to be informed of any modification that may be in violation of warranty or coverage outside a policy. This technology is designed to function in this stealth fashion to deter illegal copying, reverse engineering, and patent infringements.
Why would I want to adjust boost and timing? The ability to adjust the boost and timing levels of a Revo program means that your car can be tailored to suit an individuals' needs. The boost adjustment allows the user to make changes to get the most from add on hardware upgrades or change the way the car responds when driving. The adjustable timing allows the user to get the most of available fuels whether it be standard pump fuel or high octane race fuels.
What is the Anti-Theft feature? Anti Theft is a function found on SPS2 and SPS3 that will lock out all inputs to the ECU. It will leave the car totally inoperable even if the thief has the key. Unlike other security devices, this has no wires and cannot be defeated without the correct SPS unit for your specific car. Even replacing the ECU will not everride the Anti Theft. Unlike the program switching, the Anti Theft function will not operate between different cars meaning someone else's SPS cannot be used to turn off the anti-theft feature on your car.
What is the trial program? We can upload Revo's trial software into your own vehicle and let you experience the difference over the factory standard software. This trial will last for 5 hours of driving time, and then will simply revert back to factory standard settings once the trial is complete. Free trial may not be available for all vehicles.
Does Revo offer software specific to my modifications? Revo does offer Stage 2 and Stage 3 software for some applications. Stage 2 will usually work well with a turbo-back exhaust system and other bolt on modifications whereas Stage 3 is designed to work with the GT28 series turbos. For more details please click the appropriate links for the Stage that you are interested in.
